Introduction: Project Background and Client Type
This initiative focused on supporting Bachelor of Science in Sanitary Engineering students in identifying context-based and socially relevant thesis titles. The client, a public university student group aligned with municipal planning efforts, sought assistance from Students Brain Boost Cooler to integrate GIS-based environmental datasets with priority infrastructure and sanitation programs in Rosario, Batangas. The main challenge was localizing academic topics to real-world planning priorities drawn from the Executive-Legislative Agenda (ELA) and Local Development Investment Program (LDIP) 2022–2025 of the Municipality.
Services Delivered
-
Suggested thesis titles using actual LDIP project priorities
-
Integrated each proposed title with GIS data applications
-
Localized relevance by including Rosario’s administrative boundaries and hazard profiles
-
Highlighted climate adaptation, water sanitation, and public health concerns in all concepts
🌟 Highlights or Unique Considerations
-
Direct use of municipal development priorities made the list academically relevant and implementable
-
Hazard datasets (flood, landslide, seismic, climate vulnerability) were embedded to ensure a DRRM-informed approach
-
The topics are ideal for collaborations between the LGU and academic institutions, especially in areas of water safety, sanitation infrastructure, and climate change adaptation
-
A notable inclusion is the focus on waste management, water resource sustainability, and disease risk reduction across Rosario’s barangays
