Introduction: Project Background and Client Type
This initiative supported a government-led environmental intervention designed by scholars from the Municipality of Rosario, Batangas. The clients—Cynthia A. Cabillo of the Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office and Maria Aira A. Araño of the Municipal Engineering Office—developed a Change Initiative Proposal under the Development Academy of the Philippines' capability development program. The study addressed environmental pollution caused by unregulated hog waste disposal in the Pinagkaanuran River, which drains into the Calumpang watershed.
To support this initiative, Students Brain Boost Cooler provided customized mapping services, enabling the project team to visualize key river segments and surrounding land use. These maps helped strengthen the spatial analysis of the intervention area and communicate its relevance to the targeted communities of Malaya and Marilag.
Services Delivered

Highlights or Unique Considerations
-
The intervention targets two pollution-contributing barangays, Malaya and Marilag, and links community habits with ecological degradation.
-
The proposed biogas commune and techno-demo farms promote the circular economy, aligning with multiple Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
-
The plan supports compliance with DENR standards and existing local ordinances while promoting behavioral change through education, demonstration, and regulation.
-
This initiative is part of a larger LGU capability-building track, integrating local planning with national frameworks such as RA 9275 (Clean Water Act) and Ambisyon Natin 2040.
